Product Description
Yamaha YST-FSW150BL Advanced YST II Down-Firing Active Subwoofer is a new shaped subwoofer with Yamaha's latest technologies, including Advanced YST II, Linear Port and down-firing Active design plus. The Rack Mountable Design matches the surround systems and micro component systems. This subwoofer both employs a high performance and down-firing active design. Even though compact, it delivers an impressive bass power and accurate sound reproduction. The down-firing design radiates the sound efficiently in all directions. The Linear Port provides smooth bass response and minimizes extraneous noise. It also serves to boost the sound output from this compact subwoofer. Capable of handling high dynamic power of 130W, this subwoofer ensures that you hear all bass sounds, even the loudest short bursts, with fast attack and total clarity.Similar Products

I have a yamaha reciever and bought this because the bookshelf bose weren't cutting it. This sub definately makes a difference. The only complaint I have is that the additional cable to signal power off does not work with my stereo. You'd think yamaha would be compatible with yamaha...not always true. Not a big deal, but keeps me from giving it 5 stars. I would not buy the lower wattage sub-woofer as I usually have this one maxed out. This could be due to the fact that it is on a shelf and not on the floor. Overall this sounds great and completely changes the way I listen to music and entertainment. I do not have surround, 2.1 only.

In a sub what one looks for is the base (the lower frequency). The THUD sound is completely missing. It does well with the music but not good for movies.
Not worth the price.

I bought this subwoofer to fill in the bottom range of a stereo system -- Yamaha's MCR-730, whose little speakers do an amazing job for their size but which cannot do the impossible.
The volume control is graduated with ten marks, the middle mark (at 12 o'clock) being the recommended starting point for beginning its integration into a system. With the Yamaha stereo system mentioned -- whose little speakers are not all that efficient -- I have the subwoofer volume control set at 2 3/4, and that may still be a tad too high. So, I believe this unit will prove to be more than adequate for most systems.
Plus, it integrates very nicely into the listening experience. I'm seldom aware of the subwoofer unless I'm playing rock music (where the bass line is overly emphasized). But, I am aware of hearing all the music now -- that now I have a full-range system.

Don't let the size of this thing fool you. I have 6 in-wall mounted speakers that sounded good but no bass. This thing brought my system to life. I only have it turned up halfway. It also looks good on the floor under my stereo.

This little unit rocks. It is low profile, looks great, and fits into a narrow space. Don't plan on stacking components on top of it even though you may be tempted, as the rumbling of the bass can disrupt other components. You can also place this vertically. Like the other reviewer, it is perfect with the ysp-4000 as the sync cable turns it off and on with the main speaker. I think other yamaha components may have this also.
