I bought this sub about a month ago. I wanted to give adequate time to test it before giving a review. For the price paid, this is a great sub. It plays nice and loud down to 25hz like the description says. I've ran tones down to 20hz and this sub will still shake the walls at higher volumes. I have it connected to a Pioneer VSX-918-V receiver dialed in with MCACC. I have the sub gain at 1/4 while the receiver has its gain at -1.5db. It blends in great with my mains and is in no way overpowering. I stay in a apartment with an open floorplan if that matters so I have to keep it low as to not anger my neighbors. I have waited until they left to really crank it though. You can't beat it for the money.

I bought two of these and I couldn't be more pleased. Everyone who comes over to watch a bluray says the bass is better than any they have ever felt in the theaters. The price is completely reasonable and I can't complain about the performance at all. So far they take everything I throw at them.
... Okay, the downside is my neighbors hate me now...
Heh.
"Powerful Sub" 2009-06-18By
Raman SridharanI'm definitely not an audiophile, but this thing is great for medium-large rooms. Its powerful, and get pretty loud. It handles lows fairly well, but the highs sound horrible. But it has a high frequency filter, which I usually set to around 80-100hz.
For the price I paid, I think its impossible to get this kind of performance.

I purchased two of these originally to replace two aging BIC subwoofers ( V1200 & V1210R). After receiving them I swapped the factory Dayton amps with a pair of their SA240(240 watts @ 4ohms with 24 db/octave xover)subwoofer amps. They made a huge difference in the sound performance of these powered subs. I also replaced the factory subwoofer speakers for two Infinity Reference 1250W subwoofers. I also added 1.5 lbs of polyfill stuffing in each enclosure. Now, I must say this was a much needed improvement over factory. I've enjoyed my new subs so much, that I've just recently placed another order for two more SUB120's powered subs. I will be upgrading the amps and speakers soon. Currently, I have an 12 speaker home theater system. One good feature on both the factory sub120 amp and the Dayton SA240 amps is they have both input and output jacks so you can run a chain of powered subs. Which is what I'm doing. I have a total of 5 powered subs along with 7 other speakers in my system (Front L/R, Cntr, Surround L/R and Rear Surround L/R + 5 LFE powered Subwoofers).

I've been around speakers for many years, both as a recording musician and a hi-fi nut. This product really surprised me. It's not near as flabby as I would have expected from the price. Bass is very nice, tight and complements my JBL's very well. It works equally well with all types of program material, CD's, DVD,s, VHS, MP3, FM, LP, etc. I would have easily paid 3 times as much to get sound this good. I'd read reviews on other websites and took the plunge. I highly recommend this sub for those on a budget, or even those willing to spend more. The box is pretty generic, just a black ash covering over acoustic plywood, but it fits everywhere. That's the only downside and I don't think of that as much of an issue. Check it out!
